96 child labour cases reported in Jordan during first half of 2026

Ammon News - The Child Labour Reduction Inspection Division at the Ministry of Labour dealt with 96 child labour cases during the first half of 2026, including two involving girls and 94 involving boys, according to data from the Central Inspection Directorate.

According to Al Ghad newspaper, the cases by nationality involved 73 Jordanian children, 18 Syrian children, two Egyptian children, and three children of other nationalities.

The data showed that the number of establishments inspected by the division reached 2,198 during the same period, as part of inspection campaigns and field visits to monitor and identify cases of child labour.

During the first half of the year, the ministry recorded 35 violations against employers and issued 109 warnings, 73 of which were rectified, as part of efforts to enforce labour law provisions related to child labour.

The Ministry of Labour continues to implement inspection and awareness programmes aimed at curbing the phenomenon, as part of its policy of zero tolerance toward child labour and in cooperation with relevant partner agencies.
