PSD launches online service to streamline lawyers’ visits to inmates

27-08-2026 01:02 PM

Ammon News - The Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Thursday launched a new online service allowing lawyers to arrange visits to clients held at correctional and rehabilitation centers, as part of efforts to digitize procedures and improve access to government services.

Under the new system, lawyers can submit visit requests in advance through a dedicated online platform, allowing authorities to verify that a client is being held at the specified facility, ensure that visit requirements have been met and check for any restrictions before the lawyer arrives at the center.

The service is intended to reduce processing time, simplify procedures and improve the organization of lawyers’ visits to correctional facilities.

Lawyers can submit requests through the "Special Visits for Lawyers" form available on the Correctional and Rehabilitation Centers Department section of the PSD’s official website. Requests will be reviewed and processed electronically in accordance with established procedures.

The PSD said use of the service is optional and does not alter the legally established arrangements for lawyers’ visits, which will continue on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays.

The service has initially been rolled out at six correctional and rehabilitation centers: Muwaqqar 2, Marka, Zarqa, Birayn, Juweideh and Irbid, following the completion of the necessary technical preparations.

The directorate plans to gradually expand the system to other correctional facilities across the Kingdom.

The PSD said the initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to modernize correctional services by adopting digital solutions that simplify procedures, speed up transactions and improve service efficiency, while supporting the justice system and the rule of law.
