Ammon News - The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission stated that Israeli authorities, under Military Order No. (115/25/T), seized a total of 15,342 dunams of land in the city of Al-Bireh.

This seizure aims to establish a so-called "security route" 3,835 meters long, encircling the settlement of Psagot, built on Jabal al-Taweel land east of the city. This effectively creates a new buffer zone around the settlement and restricts Palestinian access to lands located between the settlement's built-up area and the route.

In a statement, the Commission explained that the order targets lands within designated parcels No. (17, 20, 21, and 22) of Al-Bireh, and stipulates the transfer of actual possession to the "military commander" through the officer responsible for the affairs of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

The commission noted that "the order was signed on June 18, 2025, and its validity is set to expire on December 31, 2027, granting landowners a seven-day period to object, starting from the date of the site visit designated for landowners."

The maps reveal that the route does not target a single plot of land, but rather creates a near-complete encirclement of the Psagot settlement. According to preliminary map measurements, the military order, in addition to the area directly confiscated, prevents Palestinians from accessing more than 380 dunams in the area between the existing settlement buildings and the route specified in the military order.

The commission pointed out that this entire area is not included in the official confiscation figures, but the implementation of the route will isolate it, restrict access for its owners, and effectively place it under the security control of the settlement.

This decision is part of an escalating policy adopted by the occupation authorities after October 7, 2023, during which they issued 46 military orders aimed at creating buffer zones around settlements. These orders reveal the transition of buffer zones from exceptional "security measures" to a regular tool for expanding colonial control and encroaching on Palestinian land, without the need for immediate building plans or formal changes in ownership.
