Ammon News - A Jordanian official source confirmed on Monday that, at the request of the Syrian Arab Republic, Jordan hosted a meeting on Sunday between Syrian and Israeli officials to discuss de-escalation and efforts to restore calm following Israeli strikes on Syrian territory last week that targeted the Abu al-Duhur military airbase in Idlib Governorate and came amid escalating tensions in southern Syria.

The source reaffirmed Jordan’s condemnation of Israeli attacks on Syria, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation.

Jordan also expressed its full support for the Syrian government in its efforts to protect the country’s security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The source stressed the need for an immediate halt to Israel’s attacks on Syria, Israel’s withdrawal from occupied Syrian territory, and respect for the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
