Ammon News - The Ministry of Water and Irrigation uncovered several illegal water diversions in Mafraq, Qatrana, and Dhuleil.
The illicit taps siphoned hundreds of cubic meters of water daily, disrupting municipal supplies and lowering water pressure for local residents.
In Dhuleil, the Jordan Water Company's (Miyahuna) maintenance crews responded to a surge in residential complaints by inspecting the 300-millimeter Al-Hallabat/Khaw main pipeline. Inspectors uncovered illegal pipe networks built to supply approximately 100 properties outside the municipal system.
Teams in Qatrana seized an unauthorized two-inch line supplying a private farm and fueling illegal water tanker sales, while crews in Mafraq dismantled several illegal connections feeding private homes.
Crews severed all illegal connections and restored trunk line integrity. Authorities are calculating the total volume of stolen water to file formal legal charges against the perpetrators.
The Ministry commended the Public Security Directorate and local communities for supporting the crackdown, reiterating that inspection campaigns will continue nationwide to safeguard Jordan's water infrastructure.
