Jordan condemns Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over Golan Heights

Ammon News - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs condemned the Republic of Colombia's announcement recognizing what it described as Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

The ministry's official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, reaffirmed Jordan's rejection and condemnation of the declaration, stating that it contradicts international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions. He stressed that the occupied Golan Heights are an integral part of the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic under international law and pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981.

Qudah also reiterated Jordan's firm opposition to the continued Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory, calling on the international community to uphold its responsibilities in respecting international law and United Nations resolutions, and to compel Israel to cease its unlawful and provocative actions against Syria and end its occupation of parts of Syrian territory.

He further emphasized Jordan's unwavering support for Syria's reconstruction on foundations that safeguard its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity, and the rights of all Syrians.
