Ammon News - The Senate's Media and National Guidance Committee on Thursday discussed efforts to strengthen national media discourse, counter disinformation and enhance public awareness during regional developments.

The committee, chaired by Senator Mohammad Dawoudieh, met with Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani and officials from official media institutions.

Dawoudieh stressed the importance of developing a unified national media discourse and confronting disinformation campaigns and rumors targeting Jordan and its positions, saying that supporting state institutions preserves national unity and strengthens public awareness.

He said Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is addressing regional developments through a responsible diplomatic approach while maintaining readiness to safeguard the Kingdom's security and pursuing political efforts to reduce regional tensions.

Dawoudieh noted that the exceptional circumstances facing the region require coordinated efforts and reliance on official sources of information on issues related to national security. He praised the measures taken by the state to address regional challenges.

He underlined that the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem remain among Jordan's top priorities, stressing the importance of continued political and diplomatic efforts to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites and support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.

For his part, Momani said the government is dealing with regional developments through a balanced approach aimed at limiting the impact of crises on the Kingdom, ensuring the continuity of public life, and protecting national security, stability and the economy.

He underscored that the government is committed to avoiding disruptions to daily life and taking only measures supported by security assessments and national requirements.

Momani said the government's media policy during crises is based on providing accurate information, strengthening public trust in state institutions, and countering rumors and misleading reports to preserve national morale and reduce potential impacts on the economy and national security.

He added that the government continues to combat disinformation through public awareness campaigns and media and information literacy programs, noting that citizens' awareness and unity remain a key defense against attempts to create division.

Momani stressed that safeguarding the Kingdom's security and sovereignty is a national responsibility, highlighting the high level of readiness and efficiency of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and security agencies in protecting the country's borders and airspace.

He said the state continues to support these institutions and enhance their capabilities, expressing appreciation for the efforts of the armed forces and security personnel in preserving Jordan's security and sovereignty.
