CARC, Chinese Ambassador discuss expanding civil aviation ties

Ammon News - Jordan and China explored ways to strengthen relations and develop joint civil aviation cooperation frameworks, the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) said Tuesday.

CARC Chief Commissioner Daifallah Alfarajat met with Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei to review the two countries' air transport partnership, according to a commission statement.

The two sides discussed strengthening and developing the air transport services agreement signed between Jordan and China in 2018, which officially entered into force in 2020, the statement said.

Alfarajat and Wei also praised the current agreement, which allows the two sides' national carriers to operate 21 weekly flights, reflecting "growing" cooperation and supporting tourism and trade movement between the two countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Alfarajat called for accelerating procedures to sign the agreement to waive visa requirements for airline crew members, aimed at removing operational obstacles based on the principle of reciprocity.

Both sides urged continued coordination to serve interests of the the two countries' aviation sector and facilitate the smooth flow of passenger and cargo traffic between Jordan and China.
