Hot spell to grip Jordan through Monday

Ammon News - Temperatures are projected to be 4-5 degrees Celsius above their seasonal average.

Hot weather is forecast across most regions, while it will be sweltering in the desert, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

In its report, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) warned of the possibility of reduced horizontal visibility due to dust storms in desert regions.

The JMD urged the public to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours, avoid starting fires in forested areas and open spaces, and never leave children or the elderly inside closed vehicles.

A slight drop in temperatures is expected on Sunday, as the forecast will substantially remain unchanged.

Additionally, a slight drop in mercury is expected on Monday, however the update shows the hot spell will continue to grip the Kingdom.

Today's maximum and minimum temperatures in Amman will range between 39 and 23 degrees Celsius, while the level will stand at 35- 22C in northern mountains, in the desert regions at 43-24C, and in the plains at 38-20C.

The JMD said the Dead Sea and Gulf of Aqaba will see scorching 44C, sliding to 29C at night.
