Labor Ministry reports 95 complaints over minimum wage non-compliance

23-07-2026 12:09 PM

Ammon News - A total of 95 labor complaints related to private sector establishments not complying with minimum wage requirements were submitted through the "Himaya" platform during the first half of this year.

Ministry of Labor spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud said the ministry has followed up on these complaints with priority, noting that around 90 percent of the cases received during the period were resolved.

He explained that complaints of this nature are addressed through inspection teams and direct field visits to the concerned establishments. He added that a complaint submitted by any worker through the "Himaya" platform, which allows confidential reporting, is enough to prompt inspection teams to review the case.

Zyoud said Article 53 of the Labor Law sets penalties for establishments that fail to pay the legally approved minimum wage. The penalties include fines ranging from JD500 to JD1,000 for each violation, along with requiring employers to pay the difference between the actual wage and the minimum wage. The penalties are increased in cases of repeated violations.

He urged private sector workers, whether male or female, to report any violations related to minimum wage payments through the "Himaya" platform. He noted that the platform provides confidentiality options and allows workers to identify complaints specifically related to minimum wage non-compliance rather than unpaid wages.
