Jordan welcomes Netherlands, Belgium bans on Israeli settlement products

22-07-2026 03:33 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Wednesday welcomed decisions taken by the Netherlands and Belgium to ban the import and sale processes of products from illegal Israeli settlements.

In a statement, the ministry spokesperson Fuad Majali said the bans uphold UN Security Council Resolution 2334 by rejecting Israeli efforts to reshape the demographics and status of East Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories.

He noted the decisions also reflect the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion, which declares the Isreali occupation and settlements unlawful.

Majali urged the international community, particularly EU member states, to adopt similar measures.

To achieve feasible outcomes, he stressed steps to turn legal commitments into concrete action is "crucial" to halting illegal settlement expansion and preserving the prospects for a "just, comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution." He reiterated the Kingdom’s "firm" position of working with Arab countries and international partners to support the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, end the occupation, restore all their legitimate rights, and establish their independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
