Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held extensive talks in Washington yesterday with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During the meeting, both ministers reaffirmed the strength of the Jordan-U.S. strategic partnership and their shared commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields.

Safadi and Rubio discussed regional developments and ongoing efforts to end escalation and restore calm across the region.

Safadi stressed the importance of adhering to the U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement and reaching a comprehensive solution to the crisis that addresses the root causes of conflict, guarantees freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, and promotes lasting security and stability.

The two ministers also condemned Iranian attacks on Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

They further discussed the situation in Gaza and efforts to ensure the implementation of all provisions of U.S. President Donald Trump's plan. Safadi emphasized the need to intensify efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

Rubio praised Jordan's role in promoting regional security and stability, while Safadi thanked the United States for its support of Jordan.

Separately, Safadi discussed ways to strengthen Jordanian-American relations and reviewed regional developments during meetings on Capitol Hill with Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jim Risch, Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Jeanne Shaheen, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast, and Ranking Democratic Member Gregory Meeks.
