Normal summer conditions Monday before brief warm-up Tuesday

13-07-2026 08:00 AM

Ammon News - A seasonably normal summer day is on tap for Jordan as temperatures hover right around their seasonal averages. Most regions will experience standard summer conditions, while hotter weather settles over the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and the Gulf of Aqaba. Light to moderate northwesterly winds will prevail, occasionally picking up in the afternoon.

The heat ticks up slightly tomorrow, bringing relatively hot conditions to the capital and the highlands, though the low-lands and desert expanses will continue to bake under hot summer sun with continuing moderate northwesterly breezes.

Wednesday features a similar forecast with relatively hot air clinging to the major population centers and hot conditions persisting along the rift valley. Relief arrives Thursday as temperatures drop back down to normal summer limits for most of the country, though the Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will remain hot.

In the capital, East Amman will top out at 34 degrees Celsius before dropping to a comfortable 21 degrees Celsius tonight, while West Amman sees a high of 32 degrees Celsius and a low of 19 degrees Celsius.

The Northern Highlands will enjoy a cooler day at 28 degrees Celsius daytime and 18 degrees Celsius at night, with the Shararah Highlands reaching 30 degrees Celsius before dipping to 17 degrees Celsius.

Elsewhere, expect a high of 39 degrees Celsius and a low of 21 degrees Celsius in the Badia, and 33 degrees Celsius daytime down to 20 degrees Celsius overnight across the plains.

Extreme heat remains locked over the rifts, with the Northern Jordan Valley tracking between 39 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, the Southern Jordan Valley ranging from 41 degrees Celsius down to 28 degrees Celsius, the Dead Sea hitting 40 degrees Celsius before bottoming out at 26 degrees Celsius, and the Gulf of Aqaba seeing a peak of 40 degrees Celsius and an overnight low of 27 degrees Celsius.
