Ammon News - Jordan Customs announced on Thursday that it had seized millions of narcotic pills and other contraband during a series of anti-smuggling operations carried out at the Jaber Border Crossing in the first six months of the year.

Working alongside security and regulatory agencies at the border, customs officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle nearly 6 million Captagon pills and confiscated 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, according to a statement by the Customs Department.

The operations also resulted in the seizure of 19,000 cartons of smuggled cigarettes and 11,000 units of vape products, including e-liquid refills and disposable e-cigarettes. The department said legal measures were taken against those involved, while the confiscated goods were handed over to the relevant authorities.

The seizures came during a period of heavy cross-border traffic. Over the past month, customs officials processed more than 60,000 vehicles and buses carrying travelers of different nationalities through the Jaber Border Crossing, while maintaining the smooth movement of passengers and goods alongside strict inspection procedures.

Jordan Customs said the results highlight the effectiveness of its coordination with security and regulatory partners, as well as the readiness of its personnel to combat smuggling and other cross-border violations. The department reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the Kingdom's security and economy while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.
