Ammon News - Ministry of Water and Irrigation/Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), in cooperation with relevant authorities, has detected "major" violations on Disi water conveyance pipeline in Al-Jafr district in Ma'an govrnorate and Manja areas, south of Amman.

These encroachments involved fixtures to siphon off water illegally and sell quantities for unauthorized tankers.

The crackdown is part of the ministry's campaign to tighten control over the Kingdom's water resources.

In a statement issued Sunday, the ministry said a security campaign was coordinated last Thursday after receiving information indicating that several tankers were filling up from the Disi pipeline round the clock.

The violations were removed, bringing the total number of major violations detected in the past month to 10 attacks.

Official reports have been filed, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

In Manja area, an unlicensed well was found to be selling water to neighboring farms by extending large-diameter pipes and installing meters for selling illegal water.

The ministry noted fixtures were removed, in cooperation with the Public Security Department personnel and the reports related to the incident were prepared.
