Ammon News - The Jordanian Ministry of Culture announced the program for the Kingdom’s celebrations marking the 80th Independence Day, which will take place from May 23 to 25 across all governorates of Jordan.
In a press statement issued by the ministry on Saturday, the events will begin daily at 5:00 p.m. and continue into the evening. The program includes patriotic concerts performed by Jordanian artists and folk groups, folkloric and heritage performances, musical and theatrical shows, as well as drum performances and roaming bands.
The celebrations will also feature local cultural initiatives and activities dedicated to children, including face painting, entertainment games, cartoon characters, henna art, cultural competitions, gifts, and prizes.
In addition, the events will include bazaars showcasing local products, handicrafts, and traditional foods, in support of productive families and to highlight Jordanian cultural heritage. The celebrations will also provide broad participation opportunities for young talents and scout groups through free and diverse activities suitable for all age groups.
The program also includes major central evening events next Monday on the occasion of Independence Day, alongside carnival parades, performances by the Jordan Armed Forces Music Band and the Public Security Music Band, as well as air shows by the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
The ministry stated that fireworks displays will be held across various governorates next Monday evening in celebration of Independence Day. A special fireworks and laser show will also take place at the Jordan Gate Towers area near the Sixth Circle, accompanied by a musical composition by composer Haitham Sukkarieh.
The ministry added that, in celebration of the 80th Independence Day, museums will open their doors free of charge to the public. Activities will also include a five-a-side football championship across governorates, the Aqaba Sports Festival, and special events at the Royal Automobile Museum next Friday.
According to the ministry, this year’s celebration program focuses on expanding community participation and providing open and safe festive spaces for families, youth, and children, while showcasing the cultural and artistic diversity of Jordan’s governorates. The ministry also highlighted the participation of young volunteers in supporting and ensuring the success of the celebrations, reflecting their community role in commemorating this national occasion.
The celebrations will be held in public squares, parks, cultural centers, and tourist and heritage sites across the Kingdom, including several major locations such as the Roman Theater, Al-Hashemi Square, and Al-Jubeiha Parks in Amman; the Southern Theater in the ancient city of Jerash; and the Arab Revolt Plaza in Aqaba.
Events will also take place at King Abdullah II Gardens in Irbid, Ajloun Cable Car, Tafila Technical University, Prince فيصل Youth City in Karak, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein Sports Complex in Mafraq, Imad الدين Zengi Stadium in Madaba, Al-Salt Secondary School for Boys, the Urban Village in Zarqa, the Environmental Park in Russeifa, and Ma’an Model Park.
