Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said on Saturday that Jordan has lived through all the crises in the region and has managed to deal with every challenge while maintaining the consistency of its positions.
Speaking during a dialogue session at the Lennart Meri Conference in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, which focused on the foundations of resilience and crisis preparedness, Safadi said that Jordan lives in a difficult region and has experienced all regional crises, including the Palestinian issue, the crises in Iraq and Syria, and now Iran.
He stressed that Jordan is not seeking to join the European Union, “but we have achieved good progress through our partnership with the European Union and the free trade agreements with Canada and the United States.”
Jordan is the world’s largest host country for refugees relative to its population, safadi noting, highlighting that Jordan has been able to deal with all challenges while remaining firm in its positions, adopting dynamic technologies and programs to mitigate damage, and successfully placing itself on the right track.
Despite all the challenges, Jordan has maintained the country’s stability and achieved economic growth, emphasizing that the Kingdom is steadily advancing on various paths of economic, social, and investment reform, Safadi added.
He also said that Jordan has launched major projects enabling it to meet its needs, particularly in the water sector, which he described as a major challenge.
The session addressed the importance of building resilience before crises occur through education, economies capable of financing defense, and strengthening civic culture. It also discussed ways to maintain openness and adaptability while adhering to core values, in addition to issues related to crisis preparedness, strengthening public institutions, expanding economic opportunities, enriching the shared cultural space, and the importance of building a common vision and unified direction to confront challenges.
Before participating in the dialogue session, Safadi met with Estonian President Alar Karis, President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, and President of Moldova Maia Sandu.
