Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs on Thursday welcomed an agreement reached by Yemeni parties, under UN auspices, to release more than 1,600 detainees linked to the conflict in Yemen, concluding a round of negotiations held in Amman over recent weeks.
In a statement Thursday, the Ministry's Spokesperson Fouad Majali said Jordan’s step to host the talks reflects its support for United Nations, Arab and international efforts, aimed at achieving peace, security and stability in Yemen, in line with the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
Majali praised the efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross and all parties involved in reaching an "important humanitarian agreement and the largest prisoner release since the beginning of the Yemeni crisis."
