Authorities launch mobile early warning system pilot

26-03-2026 03:25 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in coordination with the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, announced Thursday the pilot launch of a mobile-based early warning system, part of national efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness and response.

The Petra region has been selected for the pilot, which will operate under current weather conditions to assess the system’s efficiency and reliability in real-world scenarios.

The system is designed to deliver immediate alerts directly to mobile phones during emergencies, particularly weather-related incidents, ensuring citizens receive critical information in a timely manner. Alerts will include an audible signal to capture attention and prompt immediate action.

Authorities emphasized that the notifications issued during the pilot are test messages and advised the public not to be alarmed, noting that the initiative is a key step in advancing the Kingdom’s early warning and communication infrastructure.
