King, Egypt president hold talks in Cairo

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II and Egypt President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi held talks on Sunday, focusing on the importance of strengthening joint Arab action to restore stability to the region.

During bilateral talks followed by expanded ones at Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, the two leaders emphasised the need to maintain coordination and consultation in order to achieve mutual goals and serve Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause.

The two leaders stressed the need to implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement in its entirety, facilitate the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and expedite recovery and reconstruction efforts. His Majesty commended Egypt’s role in mediating the agreement to end the war.

Regarding the West Bank, the two leaders reaffirmed Jordan and Egypt’s firm rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people, and their condemnation of all violations and arbitrary actions against them.

His Majesty also warned of the consequences of repeated attacks on Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Discussions addressed the overall situation in the region, with both leaders emphasising the importance of de-escalation and resolving crises through peaceful means. The two leaders underscored the need to respect the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of countries, as well as the preservation of their resources.

During the talks, the two leaders affirmed the depth of Jordanian-Egyptian relations, and their commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields, particularly through the Jordan-Egypt Joint Higher Committee.

For his part, the Egyptian president highlighted the special ties that bind Egypt and Jordan, and the importance of strengthening them in ways that support the interests and aspirations of the two countries and their peoples.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
