Israeli army drill to counter potential threats across border with Jordan

26-01-2026 11:12 AM

Ammon News - The Israeli Army’s Central Command has launched a drill designed to test the army's readiness for extreme scenarios involving multiple arenas operating simultaneously under manpower constraints.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the drill aimed to assess the Central Command's preparedness to handle high-tension situations on multiple fronts simultaneously, taking into account personnel constraints.

Among the most serious scenarios examined, according to the newspaper, was the possibility of infiltration operations across the Jordanian border. Security officials warned of an escalating risk of land infiltration by elements who might cross from Syria into Jordan and reach the Israeli border.

Despite the establishment of the 96th Division and the commencement of security fence and fire control center projects along the Jordanian border, security officials indicated that networks continue to exploit border gaps to smuggle drugs and weapons, Jerusalem Post added.

The assessments indicated that the same routes along the border could transform from smuggling routes into potential corridors for carrying out attacks.
