Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordan Micro Credit Company Tamweelcom, in cooperation with the Millennium Energy Industries, has launched a new campaign for solar heaters, using the modern technology of “evacuated tubes”.
In 2009, Tamweelcom inaugurated this campaign, in collaboration with the National Center for Energy Research, with the slogan “Our Environment, Our Responsibility”. This project showcases the Tamweelcom commitment to social responsibility toward the environment.
By providing financial services to micro-entrepreneurs and the low-income community, Tamweelcom is promoting the purchase and use of solar heaters in an economic stratum that would normally, not be able to own this technology. Always seeking to stay abreast of the most current, environmentally-friendly technology, Tamweelcom is providing “evacuated tubes” to the community under an installment program.
Evacuated tubes are an advanced technology being utilized in solar heaters; whereby, water is heated to a high temperature as a result of the sun reflecting on the surface of the evacuated glass pipes through which the water is conducted and then, stored in a tank, for future use. The vacuum-sealed pipes do not lose the heat because there is no air to absorb or transfer the heat. These pipes have a capacity of 3 liters of water.
The solar heater can prevent environmental pollution caused by the use of traditional sources of energy. It promotes the use of renewable solar energy which in turn, lowers the expenses normally encountered by the Jordanian family for electricity, diesel and kerosene, traditionally used to heat water.
The solar heater campaign targets extensive parts of the local community: including entrepreneurs; public and private sector employees; social security recipients and military retirees.
The solar heater is being provided through a loan program that accommodates the targeted category of community. The product is provided with a range of 14 to 30 pipes, with a payment plan of up to 36 months, starting at JD14 per month. This payment plan is considered reasonable for the Jordanian citizen and is being provided throughout the Tamweelcom branches in the Kingdom.
Tamweelcom is a non-profit company and is one of the pioneering microfinance institutions in Jordan that was established to fight poverty and unemployment. It was founded in 1999 and is owned by the Noor Al-Hussein Foundation (King Hussein Foundation). More than 142,315 projects have been financed, using more than JD 66 million, 96% of which were owned by women.
