Ammon News - ChatGPT has become the fastest growing smartphone app in South Korea this year, according to new survey data. The popular artificial intelligence app saw a huge rise in users, making it number one in growth among all mobile apps in the country.
ChatGPT is an AI tool created by OpenAI. People use it to ask questions, write stories, help with homework, and learn new things. In South Korea, more and more people started using the app in 2025.
A survey by Wiseapp Retail, which studied data from 4 million smartphone users in South Korea, showed that ChatGPT users increased by 196.6 percent in November compared to January. This was the highest growth rate among all apps tracked this year.
Other apps also saw growth, but far less than ChatGPT. Daiso Mall, the online shopping app of the discount store Daiso, came in second with a growth rate of 31.9 percent. Beauty store Olive Young followed with 30.8 percent growth. Monino, a money management app used by customers of Samsung Group financial companies, ranked next with 28.1 percent growth.
ChatGPT was not only the fastest growing app, but also the most used smartphone app in South Korea during the same period. The app had an average of 16.7 million users every month. This placed it well ahead of other popular apps. Kakao Pay ranked second in monthly users with about 9.1 million people using it, while Olive Young came third with around 8.6 million users.
The strong growth of ChatGPT shows how much interest there is in artificial intelligence tools. Many people in South Korea are now using AI apps in their daily lives for learning, work, and entertainment. As AI technology continues to improve, experts expect apps like ChatGPT to become even more popular in the coming years.
