Senate delegation participates in Arab parliamentarians' dialogue in Beijing

26-11-2025 05:56 PM

Ammon News - A Senate delegation, headed by Issa Haider Murad and membership of Mustafa Bazaieh and Fadel Hmoud, took part in the Arab Parliamentarians' Dialogue in Beijing.

The event was held at the National People's Congress building in Beijing, with the participation of representatives from Arab legislative councils and institutions, as well as the Arab Parliament, according to a Senate statement issued Wednesday.

During the opening session, Murad delivered a speech highlighting the "deep" Jordanian-Chinese relations, which span more than half a century.

Murad said the "completion of a full decade of the strategic partnership between Jordan and China marks a significant milestone in a cooperation that has become a model to be emulated, based on mutual respect and a shared vision for a more prosperous future for both nations."

Noting the "unified" stance on Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause and the war on the Gaza Strip, he praised China's support for the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Murad also called for strengthening joint parliamentary cooperation by exchanging expertise and visits, activating joint committees, increasing scholarships and academic collaboration, developing health and tourism partnerships, and supporting the twinning initiative between the two countries' cities and heritage sites.

Murad expressed his appreciation for Chinese investments in Jordan, especially in the energy, industry, and services sectors, adding that the Kingdom enjoys an "attractive investment environment and offers numerous privileges."

On future steps, he stressed the importance of deepening economic cooperation and activating partnership projects under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) law.

Murad noted the need to enhance the role of the Belt and Road Initiative in supporting development and stability in the region, and benefit from China's rich experience in infrastructure, industrial advancement, and economic growth.

On the symposium's sidelines, the Senate delegation is scheduled to conduct field visits to several major development institutions and projects in various Chinese cities.
