Jordan INGO Forum completes the “Syrian Voices Dialogues Series

19-11-2025 05:06 PM

Ammon News - Last week the Jordan International NGO Forum completed its first “Syrian Voices Dialogue Series.” The Dialogue Series took place between 09-13 November 2025 and brought together close to 200 individuals across five governorates.

These sessions created safe and inclusive spaces for Syrians living in Jordan to engage directly with international supporters, authorities, supportive organizations and community members to discuss challenges, potential solutions, futures prospects in Jordan, and thinking related to return and reintegration in Syria.

Dialogue participants were highly appreciative for the opportunity to convene and as a young Syrian woman living in Zarq’aa said, “this is the first time people have come to talk with us in this way – to really listen.” According to the event organizer, JIF Representative Alyse Kennedy, “There are many innovative ways that we can address the issues we are hearing but we need new approaches, and we need to work better together to address common challenges - it starts with listening.”

Many difficult stories and experiences were shared alongside many stories that demonstrate how people are working together to better their communities. Dialogue participants, regardless of socio-economic status and background, repeatedly referenced the critical role of local government, community-based organizations and NGOs as the primary providers of support and services and the need to continue providing support.

This series highlights the unwavering local commitment towards enabling inclusive and comprehensive service provision for vulnerable groups and the many opportunities for better coordination and collaboration to support the future of the refugee response and local communities in Jordan.

Many thanks to the JIF members who enabled these events to take place and to the community partners who provided the physical space and additional support.
