Senate Speaker Highlights Role of Charity Union

Ammon News - Senate Speaker Faisal Fayez on Monday met with Amer Khawaldeh, President of the the General Union of Voluntary Societies (GUVS), and members of the Union to discuss ways to strengthen volunteer work and charitable initiatives that foster social cohesion and humanitarian support across Jordan.

Fayez commended the Union’s efforts in advancing the charitable and developmental sector, noting its crucial role in supporting vulnerable families and low-income communities as the leading national platform for philanthropy.

Khawaldeh and Union representatives outlined ongoing programs aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of member charities, improving community services, and empowering organizations through capacity-building, training, and partnerships with public, private, and international institutions.

They emphasized the Union’s vision to make charitable work in Jordan a benchmark for responsible giving and organized philanthropy, in line with the Hashemite leadership’s focus on social and humanitarian development. Their initiatives also align with national priorities, including poverty alleviation, unemployment reduction, and raising living standards.

Khawaldeh highlighted several national initiatives that support disadvantaged families, women, and youth, providing essential food, medical, and educational assistance. He underlined that the enduring spirit of solidarity in Jordanian society remains the foundation for continued charitable engagement.
