15-10-2025 11:15 AM

Ammon News - The second Aqaba Sports Festival commenced Wednesday at Prince Hamzah Youth City, bringing together more than 1,200 athletes and sports enthusiasts from across Jordan. The three-day event is organized by the Prince Hamzah Youth City Club in cooperation with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

The festival aims to promote sports culture and youth engagement in Aqaba Governorate, in line with the Ministry of Youth’s vision to expand athletic and community-based initiatives across the Kingdom. It provides a platform for young people to compete, showcase their talent, and develop their physical and social skills through inclusive, interactive activities.

The event features a diverse lineup of sports, including football, basketball, table tennis, beach volleyball, swimming, and several martial arts disciplines such as judo, muay thai, taekwondo, kickboxing, and karate. It also includes chess, cycling, and marathon events, along with a variety of recreational and fitness activities designed to encourage wider participation.

Director of Prince Hamzah Youth City and Executive Director of the organizing club, Ahmad Al-Hassan, said the festival reflects the Royal Vision to empower youth and strengthen the sports sector in Jordan. He noted that all technical and logistical preparations have been completed to ensure a successful event, with the city ready to host athletes registered in the participating sports.

The festival is expected to feature several entertainment programs alongside competitions, culminating in a closing ceremony on Friday evening to honor the winning teams and participants.
