13-10-2025 09:25 AM

Ammon News - Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Sunday he will award his US counterpart, Donald Trump, Israel’s highest medal in recognition of his role in securing the release of hostages from Gaza and helping to end the ongoing conflict.

“Through his tireless efforts, President Trump has not only helped bring our loved ones home but has also laid the foundations for a new era in the Middle East built on security, cooperation, and genuine hope for a peaceful future,” the Israeli president said in a statement.

The President’s office said Trump will receive the “Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor” in the coming months. Herzog will formally inform his counterpart of his decision on Monday.

The US leader’s 20-point plan aims to end more than two years of war between Israel and Hamas.

Trump will spend a few hours in Israel on Monday.

The medal, Herzog’s office said, is given to people who have made “an exceptional contribution to the State of Israel or to humanity.”

Since taking office in 2021, Herzog has granted the medal to prominent figures in Israel and around the world, including heads of state, activists and Jewish figures from Israel and the Diaspora.
