Ammon News - By Heba Karbek - On October 1st, the Arab world celebrates Arab Child Day. This day is about reminding everyone that children are the future and they have rights: the right to education, health, play, protection, and a safe life. In my school, we also celebrated this day with drawings, songs, and speeches about the importance of protecting children. It was a joyful moment to feel that children are valued.
But while many children are celebrating, most of the children in Gaza are living in very hard conditions. Many of them lost their parents in the war, and most of them have no safe home to live in. Schools were destroyed, so many children cannot continue their education. Hospitals are overcrowded and sometimes there is no medicine, so sick and injured children often do not get the care they need. Instead of playing and dreaming, most Gaza children spend their days surrounded by fear, hunger, and sadness.
On Arab Child Day, we must remember that every child deserves a safe and happy childhood. We should all raise our voices for the children of Gaza and support their right to live with dignity and peace.
