Jordan unveils 2024–2030 quality, patient safety strategy

18-09-2025 01:55 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Health on Thursday launched the National Policy and Strategy for Quality and Patient Safety 2024–2030, developed in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and funded by the European Union (EU), to advance healthcare standards and strengthen public trust in health services.

Approved by the Cabinet in February 2025, the strategy reflects the ministry’s commitment to reducing medical errors, improving patient outcomes, and achieving universal health coverage in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister of Health Ibrahim Bdour said the strategy marks a milestone in the modernization of Jordan’s health sector and places citizens’ health at the center of national priorities. He highlighted that it was prepared through a broad national effort involving public, private, and charitable institutions, with technical support from WHO and EU partners.

Bdour noted that the plan aims to reinforce governance and accountability, integrate health data, build workforce capacity, and institutionalize a culture of transparency, learning, and continuous improvement.

Safaa Ouran, Director of the Institutional Development and Quality Control Directorate, said the strategy translates the ministry’s commitment to people-centered, equitable care. Its priorities include strengthening quality systems and patient safety, improving adverse event reporting, aligning services with evidence-based standards, enhancing patient and community engagement, and adopting innovation and sustainability across the health system.
