PM stresses need to restore Umm ar-Rasas archaeological site

Ammon News - Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan visited the Umm ar-Rasas archaeological site on Sunday.

Hassan stressed the need to implement programs to restore landmarks at the archaeological site, preserve its unique historical and archaeological value, improve services provided to visitors, and continue promoting it as a tourist attraction, which reflects its importance as an archaeological site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004, as one of the most important archaeological landmarks.

The site covers an area of ​​1,200 dunams and contains 16 ancient churches, some of which are decorated with distinctive mosaic floors, a fortress, a tower, and numerous relics dating back to various eras.
