Germany provides €30.9 million in funding to support education in Jordan

14-09-2025 10:55 AM

Ammon News - Germany has provided a new €30.9 million grant to support access to quality education for vulnerable children in Jordan, including thousands of Syrian refugee children.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Education and Higher Education Azmi Mahafzah and Deputy Director of the German Development Bank in Jordan, Sawsan Arouri, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

The funds will be transferred through the German Development Bank (KfW).

The grant aims to support the Ministry of Education in Jordan by strengthening public schools and supporting teachers and administrative staff serving the country's most needy communities. The grant will enable approximately 71,000 Syrian children to enroll in 197 double-shift public schools across the Kingdom.

This grant comes as part of the Accelerated Access Initiative, a multi-donor-supported initiative to alleviate pressure on Jordan's educational infrastructure as more than 130,000 Syrian and Jordanian students are expected to benefit from this initiative.
