03-09-2025 03:14 PM

Ammon News - Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya on Wednesday met with Qatar’s Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Thani to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and consolidating shared interests.

During the meeting at the ministry's headquarters, the two ministers signed an executive action plan to implement the 2021 Jordan–Qatar security cooperation agreement.

The action plan aims to enhance "sustainable" cooperation in various security fields, including combating corruption, organized crime, terrorism, cybercrime, and drug trafficking, as well as strengthening border and facility security.

Additionally, it covers civil defense cooperation, mainly specialist exchanges, sharing curricula and training practices, and developing joint strategies in traffic safety, licensing systems, and information-sharing mechanisms.

The plan further outlines cooperation in police academies and training, communication systems, and the formation of a joint security committee between the two ministries.

Talking at the signing ceremony, Faraya stressed the "deep-rooted" Jordan–Qatar relations, as a "genuine model of brotherly" ties, strengthened by the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Faraya also briefed his Qatari counterpart on regional security challenges and the importance of joint work in maintaining stability.

In turn, Sheikh Abdulaziz praised the "solid and growing" bilateral relations, rooted in the directives of the two countries' leaderships, which have opened "broad" avenues for cooperation across multiple fields.
