Ammon News - In a recorded speech, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reviewed what he described as military achievements against both Hamas and Iran, while vowing to thwart opposition attempts to topple his government.
Netanyahu said that a decision had been made to occupy Gaza, and that the army had begun implementing it.
Ahead of the meeting, Israel Hayom has learned that contrary to the hopes of several government ministers, the plan being advanced by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer in discussions with senior US officials envisions only partial sovereignty, limited to the Jordan Valley.
This plan is based on a broad consensus within Israel and, according to Dermer's expectations, bipartisan support in the US. It contrasts with the more sweeping approach of applying full sovereignty over most of the West Bank.
Axios reported that the Israeli government is seriously debating the annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank in retaliation for the imminent recognition of Palestine by several western countries, according to three Israeli, U.S. and European officials with direct knowledge.
One European official said Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer even told French President Emmanuel Macron's Middle East adviser, Anne-Claire Legendre, that Israel would annex all of "Area C," which constitute 60% of the West Bank.
Israel is considering annexation in the occupied West Bank as a possible response to France and other countries recognising a Palestinian state, three Israeli officials said according to Reuters.
