Ammon News - Seven Palestinians have died from starvation and malnutrition in Gaza over the past 24 hours, amid a total Israeli blockade on the region, according to medical sources, raising the total number of malnutrition-related deaths to 339, including 124 children.

Since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared famine in Gaza on August 22, 61 deaths have been recorded, including nine children, due to extreme hunger.

The international IPC assessment, involving the United Nations and partner organizations, has confirmed famine conditions in Gaza and warned that it is expected to spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis governorates by the end of September.

The IPC report indicates that over 500,000 people in Gaza are facing catastrophic conditions—the fifth and most severe phase—characterized by extreme hunger, death, destitution, and critically high rates of acute malnutrition.

Additionally, 1.07 million people (54% of the population) are experiencing phase four, classified as emergency-level food insecurity, while 396,000 people (20%) are in phase three, defined as crisis-level food insecurity.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification is a global initiative that includes UN agencies, regional partners, and relief organizations, ranking food insecurity in five phases, with famine as the most severe fifth stage. WAFA
