20,500 administrative detainees in Jordan in 2024

27-08-2025 01:46 PM

Ammon News - The annual report of the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR) revealed that 20,437 individuals were administratively detained in Jordan during the past year.

The report, which Ammon has reviewed, indicated that the year 2024 witnessed a significant decrease in the number of administrative detainees compared to 2023.

The center affirmed its position on Crime Prevention Law No. 7 of 1954, embodying the requirements of the principle of separation of powers. Until there is consensus on the need to repeal the Crime Prevention Law, the center indicated the need to make a series of amendments to this law.
