Ammon News - On August 25, 2025, His Majesty King Abdullah II started a state visit to Uzbekistan, and welcomed by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a welcoming ceremony at Samarkand International Airport.
The King visited cultural, touristic, and religious sites in the city of Samarkand, including the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad’s companion, Qutham ibn Abbas, the “Eternal City” tourism site, and Registan Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On August 26, His Majesty held talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand on Tuesday, during which they discussed ways to strengthen relations between Jordan and Uzbekistan, as well as enhance cooperation across various fields.
The King bestowed on President Mirziyoyev the Order of the Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance), granted to heads of state, in recognition of his efforts and in affirmation of the distinguished relations between the two countries and their peoples.
His Majesty also visited an exhibition of products manufactured in Uzbekistan, including textiles and fabrics, technological equipment and software, as well as chemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food products.
