8 Palestinians die of starvation and malnutrition in Gaza

23-08-2025 02:34 PM

Ammon News - Eight more Palestinians have died in the last 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition in the famine-stricken Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of famine-related deaths in the region to 281, including 114 children, according to medical sources.

Hospitals across the besieged Strip continue to register increasing cases of severe hunger and preventable deaths amid a strict Israeli blockade on the region.

The crisis has worsened dramatically under the ongoing Israeli siege, now in place since March 2, 2025, which has blocked the entry of most food and medical supplies. The starvation is unfolding alongside a broader campaign of destruction and mass killing that Israel has waged on Gaza since then.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned that malnutrition among children under five had doubled between March and June due to the sustained blockade.

The World Health Organization also confirmed that acute malnutrition rates in Gaza have reached alarming levels, with nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City suffering from severe malnutrition. The agency said that deliberate restrictions on aid and prolonged siege have directly led to the loss of many lives. WAFA
