Army: Each conscript will receive JD100 per month during their service

18-08-2025 03:14 PM

Ammon News - The official spokesperson for the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), Brigadier General Mustafa Hiyari, announced Monday that the JAF will assume responsibility for implementing the National Service Program (conscription) in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, and in accordance with the highest training and logistical standards.

Speaking at a press briefing, Hiyari said the program will be conducted at the JAF’s Khaw and Shway’ar camps, which are fully equipped with training, accommodation, and healthcare facilities.

He explained that the program will be organized in three sessions annually, each lasting three months, with conscripts receiving basic military training. The first session is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2026. Conscripts will remain in the camps to ensure discipline and adaptation to the training environment, with their first 48-hour leave granted after four weeks, followed by weekly leave.

Hiyari noted that each conscript will receive JD100 per month during their service. The summons process will be carried out through the Ministry of Interior, police directorates under the Public Security Directorate, as well as via the "Sanad" application and SMS. He added that the Armed Forces plan to launch an electronic platform to provide inquiries about the program after the completion of constitutional procedures and legal amendments.

He clarified that individuals born in 2007 and earlier who are not summoned must continue postponing their service under the existing mechanism due to limited capacity. Those who are summoned but fail to report will face penalties under the Military Service and Reserve Service Law, including imprisonment of no less than three months and no more than one year, after which they must resume service.

Hiyari said all civil documents will be withdrawn from conscripts during their service period and replaced with a military document issued through the "Sanad" application, with the option of later issuance as a plastic card. An official communication channel will also be established through the military unit switchboard to enable conscripts to contact their families, while personal phones and communication devices will be prohibited inside the camps to maintain discipline.

He added that the program’s training plan consists of two tracks: a military component including intensive physical training, field exercises, small arms training, and military discipline, and a theoretical component delivered by civilian officers and experts covering national history, active citizenship, and vocational guidance tailored to labor market needs.
