Hot air balloon crashes into primary school roo in UK

10-08-2025 11:10 AM

Ammon News - A hot air balloon from the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta had a close shave when it hit the roof of a primary school after being carried off-course by the wind.

The mass ascent on Friday, August 8, saw 90 balloons take to the skies from Ashton Court for the first day of the popular event.

However, one JLL-branded balloon was spotted flying perilously close to rooftops in Knowle West just after 7am.

A local resident managed to capture the moment the balloon bumped into the roof of Oasis Academy Connaught school as it approached its planned landing site.

The basket of the balloon was seen tipping as the occupants tried to ascend higher, leading the witness to comment that it "looked like the people were going to fall out", reports Bristol Live.

No injuries were reported and the balloon was able to regain altitude and clear the roof.
