14-07-2025 11:15 AM

Ammon News - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmad Al-Huneiti, on Sunday monitored the "Piercing Star" night tactical exercise conducted by the Princess Basma Mechanized Battalion/3 ("Umm Al-Nashama"), a subordinate unit of the Eastern Military Region.

The exercise took place at a designated training area and was observed by the Assistant for Operations and Training and the Region Commander.

Major General Al-Huneiti received a comprehensive briefing from the Region Commander and the Battalion Commander detailing the exercise's objectives, area of operations (AO), participating forces, and execution phases.

This drill forms an integral part of the operational and combat training continuum designed to refine unit personnel's proficiencies and enhance their capabilities across diverse field conditions.

The exercise simulated complex combat scenarios, encompassing direct action operations and clearing of built-up areas utilizing armored fighting vehicles (AFVs) and rotary-wing aircraft.

Engagements involved target acquisition and neutralization, in addition to medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) procedures and the employment of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for reconnaissance and destruction of high-value targets (HVTs).

Execution of the exercise adhered to contemporary combat methodologies, employing small arms, crew-served weapons, precision sniper fire, mortar systems, anti-armor ordnance, and UAS, with direct close air support (CAS) provided by Royal Jordanian Air Force assets.
