Food demand to rise as expatriates return, prices remain stable

14-07-2025 08:27 AM

Ammon News - Representative of Food Sector at Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Jamal Amro, expects demand for food to increase as expatriates return for their summer vacation.

Amro confirmed that there have been no increases in food prices during the current period, according to Al-Rai newspaper.

Demand for food has noticeably calm during the current period, Amro said, noting that demand for food increases at the end of the month, coinciding with the disbursement of salaries.

Recent data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) showed that the global food price index continued its upward trend in June, reaching 128 points, driven primarily by higher prices for meat, oils, and dairy products, despite declines in cereal and sugar prices.
