Ammon News - Civil Defense teams successfully brought a large fire under control early Sunday morning after it broke out in a popular market in the Jabal Al-Hussein area of the capital, Amman.
The blaze swept through approximately 5,000 square meters of commercial stalls selling vegetables, fruits, clothing, groceries, and miscellaneous goods.
Colonel Mohammad Khreisat, Director of Central Amman Civil Defense, stated that the swift response and high readiness of Civil Defense teams—along with effective operational coordination and immediate support from units in East and West Amman, Central Amman Police, and the Capital Gendarmerie—were key factors in containing the fire, preventing its spread, and extinguishing it in record time.
He confirmed that the continuous efforts led to the full containment of the fire, while cooling operations are still underway to ensure no re-ignition occurs, noting that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze.
