Ammon News - The Eastern Military Zone, within its area of ​​responsibility, thwarted an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle drugs from Syria into Jordan on Tuesday morning, in coordination with with security bodies and the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), a responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- Arab Army announced.

The source indicated that the movements of a group of smugglers attempting to cross the border illegally were monitored. Rapid response patrols were deployed and rules of engagement were implemented, which led to their retreat deep inside Syria. With the intensification of search and inspection operations, large quantities of narcotics were seized and transferred to the relevant authorities.

The source affirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces will continue to harness all its capabilities and potential to prevent the spread of drug toxins to the citizens of the country, in order to preserve the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
