Nearly 227,000 Syrian newborns in Jordan since 2011

Ammon News - Spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Yousef Taha, revealed that nearly 227,000 Syrian refugee children have been born in Jordan since the Syrian crisis began in 2011 up to the end of April 2025.

The number of births among Syrian refugees in the Kingdom, from the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime until the beginning of May, reached approximately 2,800, at a rate of approximately 15 births per day, Taha noted.

Also, Taha emphasized that the UNHCR continues to collaborate closely with Jordanian authorities to ensure the provision of healthcare and essential services for mothers and newborns in both refugee camps and host communities.
