Ammon News - President of the Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO), Ghassan Sweidan, denied the occurrence of an earthquake in Jordan at dawn on Wednesday.
In press statements, Sweidan said that the seismic activity detected at 1:51 a.m. (Amman time) originated in the Mediterranean Sea and registered a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter scale.
Meanwhile, the German Research Centre for Geosciences reported that a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Greek island of Crete on Wednesday, at a depth of 83 kilometers.
The JSO confirmed that the tremor did not cause any impact within Jordan, stressing its ongoing monitoring of seismic activity in the region.
