Jenin: 56 days of Israeli aggression as the destruction continue

17-03-2025 01:05 PM

Ammon News - The Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the 56th consecutive day, amidst razing, burning homes, and converting others into military barracks.

The occupation forces continued to send military reinforcements to the Jenin camp and nearby neighborhoods in the city since the morning hours, accompanied by water tanks, amidst the circling of warplanes over the city.

Occupation tanks and armored vehicles are positioned around the camp, while bulldozers continue to level streets and widen others to allow the entry of military vehicles.

Tank gunfire was heard around the Return Roundabout as the movement of occupation vehicles was monitored in the Jabriyat area.

Jenin Mayor Mohammad Jarrar said in a press statement that the number of displaced people from the camp has risen to 21,000, with 25% of Jenin's population currently displaced.

The extent of the damage caused by the aggression on the city of Jenin is enormous, particularly economically, and there has also been an increase in the poverty rate, he added.

Jenin Municipality Director Mamdouh Assaf said that the occupation forces have razed 100% of Jenin camp, 85% of the city's streets, and nearly 8,000 commercial establishments have been completely closed. The residents of entire neighborhoods in the camp have been forcibly displaced.

According to Ministry of Education spokesman Sadiq al-Khudour, since the beginning of the second semester in early February, in-person education has been suspended in 72 schools in the cities of Jenin and Tulkarm due to the aggression. This means that 26,000 students have been deprived of their education.

At dawn today, occupation forces stormed the town of Ya'bad, south of Jenin, and patrolled its streets, without making any arrests.

The ongoing occupation forces' aggression on Jenin since January 21 has resulted in the killing of 34 Palestinians and the injury of dozens more, in addition to unprecedented destruction of infrastructure and public and private property. WAFA
