National football team begins training for qualifiers against Palestine, South Korea

Ammon News - The national football team commenced its training last night in preparation for the decisive third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, ahead of matches against Palestine and South Korea.

The team entered an internal training camp at a hotel in Amman before holding its first session in the evening at Petra Stadium in Al Hussein Youth City. Under the guidance of coach Jamal Salami, the training included local players and several overseas professionals, with the remaining squad members expected to join in the coming days.

Jordan will face Palestine at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at Amman International Stadium before traveling directly to South Korea for a match against the hosts at 2:00 p.m. Jordan time on Tuesday, March 25, at Suwon World Cup Stadium.

In preparation, Al-Nashama will play a closed-door friendly against North Korea at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, March 14, at Amman International Stadium. The match will not be broadcast, and attendance will be restricted to team and staff members.

Jordan is competing in Group Two of the decisive qualifiers, currently ranking third with 9 points, behind South Korea (14 points) and Iraq (11 points). Oman follows with 6 points, Kuwait with 4, and Palestine in sixth place with 3 points.

Under the qualification system, the top two teams from each of the three groups will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, while the third- and fourth-placed teams will advance to the fourth round of the qualifiers.Petra
