Ammon News - A Palestinian detainee from the Gaza Strip Monday died in Israeli custody, according to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Affairs and the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

The Commission and the PPS announced in a joint press release that they were informed by the that Ali Ashour Ali Al-Batsh, 62, from Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip had died in the Israeli prison of Naqab.

They said that Al-Batsh’s death brought the total number of detainees who died due to systematic torture in Israeli imprisonment since the onset of the Israeli aggression to 62, including at least 41 detainees from the Gaza Strip, and the number of those who died since 1967 to 298, noting that other detainees could have died for the same reason and their identities were still concealed and that there are scores of detainees from the Gaza Strip who have died in Israeli custody and who are forcefully disappeared.
