Ammon News - Jordan's olive presses extracted 35,828 tons of olive oil during the 2024/2025 harvest season, marking a robust 43.2 percent year-on-year increase, according to official figures released Sunday.

The Department of Statistics' annual olive press survey revealed significant gains across key production metrics, with extraction efficiency climbing to 19.4 percent, up from 18 percent in the previous season, indicating superior fruit quality or improved processing techniques.

Mills throughout the kingdom processed a total of 184,903 tons of olives, a substantial 33.1 percent increase over last season's 138,898 tons.

Based on fourth-quarter market prices, this year's olive oil production is valued at approximately JD223.9 million, representing a significant contribution to the agricultural sector.

Irbid Governorate maintained its dominance in the olive sector, accounting for nearly half the national production.

The northern region delivered 89,200 tons of olives to local mills, yielding 17,600 tons of premium oil. In contrast, Aqaba registered minimal production with just 1,300 tons processed, yielding 0.3 tons of oil.

The comprehensive survey, conducted jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, covered all 148 olive presses nationwide, with 146 facilities operational during the season.

Industry analysts attribute the production surge to favorable weather conditions, expanded cultivation areas, and enhanced agricultural practices across the kingdom's olive-growing regions.
